The Buglers made their health and wellness a family affair at New Image and are achieving great results. By making a serious commitment to their training and each other, they’ve got diabetes under control, managed weight issues and are even looking to expand the brood.
We’re so proud to have The Buglers as a part of the New Image community. We sat down with Paul to learn more about how their lives have changed since they started training with us.
What motivated you to start training at New Image?
My initial motivation was to avoid having to go on insulin. As a diabetic I had let my diet and weight slide to the point where my doctor gave me an ultimatum: get my sugars under control or go onto insulin.
Kathy decided to give it a go on my recommendation with the aim of keeping her weight under control and to improve her fitness.
For Angela, it was also a stark choice: get her weight under control or forego having children. She chose to give it a go and she hasn’t looked back.
What was the first thing you noticed after you started training?
All three of us found that it’s not as scary as we imagined it might be. I was impressed that the trainers seemed to have such a good feel about how far to push without going over the limit.
How has committing to a health and wellness program affected your family?
We have all improved our fitness and adopted a healthier lifestyle. For me the most important achievement was to get the sugars under control. Now when I go for my regular check-ups, the doctors are very pleased with my long-term sugars and overall health. I still need to lose a bit of weight but everything is now moving in the right direction.
As we have moved into late middle ago, it’s very important for Kathy and me to keep our fitness up to stave off the inevitable health issue that come with ageing. For Angela, it’s still her goal to start and a family and she continues to push for that.
What’s the best thing about training at New Image?
The happy atmosphere. There’s always a genuine cheery greeting when we walk through the door and it lifts the spirits. The trainers are clearly concerned to take into account any issues that might affect our performance at the gym and that gives me a lot of confidence in their ability to manage the session.
Yes, the workouts are hard but they’re done with a positive approach that makes all the difference.
Thanks again to the Buglers for sharing their story and for trusting New Image with their health and wellness. We know you will continue to achieve your goals, and beyond!
