Healthy snacks are a challenge for all of us – personal trainers included! Protein balls have become a popular post-workout snack choice. But choose your balls from a cafe, fruit shop or health food store and you’re likely to get a sugar laden version.
In our recipe for Chocolate Protein Balls, we’ve kept the sugar content down. Our version is packed with protein and fibre and make a perfect afternoon snack.
Take 5 minutes to whip up these delicious protein balls and you’ll have a snack ready in the fridge all week – if they last that long!
Ingredients (to serve 4)
2 scoops of NuZest Clean Lean Protein (we used Creamy Cappucino, but any flavour will work)
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons almond butter (or a good quality peanut butter)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 teaspoons stevia powder
Dessicated coconut (for rolling)
- Pop all ingredients except dessicated coconut in a food processor or blender and whiz until combined.
- Wet your hands and roll the mixture into small balls.
- Sprinkle dessicated coconut onto a plate and roll the balls in coconut to coat.
- Pop balls in a sealed container in the fridge. Enjoy!
